I see the wings
As friendship’s torch burns bright

The deep re-sounding resonance of gratitude
For a hunger fed by a
Sunday banquet of loving care and beauty

An Alternate Reality
There appears to be a concerted effort by a considerable aspect of our society to create a different reality – separate and distinct from consensual fact. For example:
- Climate change is a liberal hoax, or if it is not, the warming of the planet is really a good thing. There is nothing that we need be concerned about, nor is there anything the government should do to deal with it. We should therefore continue oil and gas exploration and drilling and use, and continue promoting the mining and use of coal.
- The present presidential election has been stolen. There has been wide spread voter fraud, ballot stuffing, and all kinds of shenanigans to steal the election from Trump. Actually, he won the election. The deep state and other heinous players are responsible for this steal.
- There are no racial inequities in our society. The Black lives Matter protesters are just a bunch of anarchists, communists, violent prone, anti-American people. White lives matter.
- There is really no income disparity between rich and poor. In fact, the poorest of our citizens are rich compared with the rest of the world. They should be more grateful and quit complaining.
- There is no need of a safety net for those in need. Social security, Medicare and Medicaid amongst other social programs should be either abandoned, curtailed and/or placed in the hands of private for-profit companies. Charitable non-profit groups are sufficient to deal with this need including homelessness.
- The USA does not need any help or cooperation from other countries. We stand alone as the most powerful, richest, best country in the world. We therefore need not abide by any international laws, tribunals, courts of justice, treaties, etc. America first!
- The present Covid-19 situation was purposely initiated by China. However, it is not really serious, and one does not need to take precautions such as masking, washing hands and social distancing. It is up to the individual states to deal with it, and the federal government needs take little action.
- We do not need any governmental safety regulations re: working conditions, the environment, water, air, etc., etc. Private businesses can regulate themselves if they feel the need.
- Unions are bad, and they are bad for business and the country! Every individual should fight for his/her own wages, working conditions, and whether to receive overtime pay, sick time and paid vacations, etc.
- It is okay to discriminate against gays, transgender people, people with disabilities, illegal immigrants…you name it, especially if done so on religious grounds.
- White supremacy groups, neo-nazi groups, hate groups, hostile anti-immigrant groups, anti-government groups are all okay and acceptable ideologies, and the people who hold such views are decent and good, and should be admired.
- There is no systemic police violence, nor are black and brown people discriminated against by the police. There are just a few “bad apples.” Cutting funding to police departments, and using the money saved for community needs, and for less violent prone methods to contain crime will bring ruin.
- Free health care for all is a bad idea and will financially ruin the country. Individuals should be responsible for meeting their own medical needs and should be provided by for-profit business’s. Health care is not a human right.
- It is okay for large corporations to evade taxes in any way they can get away with it, and not pay their fair share. We already have too much government and unnecessary taxation. Greed is good and trickle-down economics helps the poor.
- It is okay and acceptable to lie, fabricate stories, cheat and promote outlandish conspiracy theories and ideas.

Dove ‘guised as goose perhaps did fall.
The honk was heard, but the touch so soft,
Who is that above the loft?
Opening the door to meet the need,
Cupid’s arrow planted a seed.
There was no pain, not even a scare,
