Announcement from Mahdiah's Family

Dear friends,

A little update: This evening there will be a viewing and casket decoration at Mahdiah’s home, at Michael and Moxie’s request.

Tomorrow, Amida and I will conduct the funeral ceremony – music, roses, words of Murshid, loved ones – after which I will read everyone’s online responses to all present.

With love,

Shams

Dear friends and companions on the path,

With sadness and respect we wish to inform you of Mahdiah Esther Jacobs Kahn’s passing. After a short illness she left this world a little before 7 am on Aug 22, 2023. May her soul fly to the light to find union with the Beloved.

Mahdiah was at home for her passing, with a few friends and family, and the well wishes and heartfelt remembrances of many others. According to her wishes, there will be an intimate home funeral. She leaves behind her son, Michael Jacobs, and grandson Moxie Jacobs .

Mahdiah will be remembered for her wisdom, insight, elegance, wit, dedication, and service to her ideals of spiritual awakening and holistic health. A memorial service will be held via zoom, at a later date, to which all will be invited.

The family would appreciate that any who wish to hold vigil for Mahdiah from afar do so from now until Friday morning. Also it is requested that remembrances be posted on The Sufi Remembrance Project (sufiremembrance.net) and donations in Mahdiah’s name be made to one’s favorite charity.

With love and gratitude for having known this wonderful woman,

Amida Cary

With Blessings to All,

Dear Shams,

I am having trouble finding how to send our message of Love to the family of Mahidah.

Moetu, Jamia Haqq and our respective families, wish to send our deepest sympathy for her
family.

May her Ancestors welcome her home,
May her journey on the last voyage, be calm
May her spirit fly to the highest peaks
May her Soul find deep Peace

It was a great honour to have met and travelled by her side, Lady of Mana.

Arohanui Jamia Haqq, Moetu and our many tribal relations and Marae

Dear Sister of the Light,
You lived a good and beautiful life, faithful to your calling as a psychotherapist and as a worker for the Message. We are already missing your physical presence, your quick and intelligent mind, your truth-speaking heart, your eagerness to learn and to find countless ways to serve humanity. Since I met you I have often thought I would like to have you guide me on retreat and now in your physical absence, I feel you guiding me and so many others as we hold the grief of your passing with the joy we feel for your return journey. May you travel well as you return to the arms of your Beloved. Love, Love, Love.

I too had trouble at first, trying to leave a remembrance, but then worked it out:

  1. Go to the remembrance site, and type “Mahdiah” into the Search box there
  2. When her page comes up, click “read full post”
  3. You will then see text boxes for your content, under “Leave a Memory”

love,
Rashid
