We have a new Murids’ Representative to the Board! The winner of our online election, held March 23-31, is Fatima Muid! Congratulations, Fatima, and thank you for taking on this vital role connecting the Inayati Order Board of Trustees with murids in North America, New Zealand, and Australia.
Much appreciation to all of you who voted. We had 103 members of the Jamiat Am vote in total, about 50% of those on this list which includes some international members. This may have been the most inclusive and engaging Murids’ Representative election process in the Inayati Order’s history. Thank you for making this so.
Please know that we had many great candidates and that we hope to invite all of them into key leadership roles. Also, perhaps you feel called to serve in an organizational capacity? If you hear an inner yes to this idea, please email us at board@inayatiorder.org.
Fatima’s two-year term begins right away. I am sure you will hear more from her once she is oriented to the role and more settled.
Good job on the process. In fact the whole “container” is looking very smoothly run. Thanks for all you do to support the message. It can be messy and painstaking, but without it the Order could fizzle out to a small flame, for a lucky few.
I encourage you to clarify the structural relationship between our section and the other centers and regions. I was surprised when I first saw our hemisphere set apart. I recognize it may be complicated and sticky, given historical conflicts after Murshid’s passing.
Thank you, Sharif! We are very much focused on creating a seamless and responsive container for the work of all of our murids, teachers, guides, activity leaders, etc.
About structure, this is a good time for the global Inayati community to review how we work together to most effectively serve inquirers of the Message.
Our headquarters in Richmond are designed to serve North America, plus Australia and New Zealand. This has always been the case and is written in our bylaws. Other nations have their own organization.
It isn’t so much about historical conflicts as about legal aspects of setting up NGOs and that we always want to be careful to not perpetuate the impression that the Americans always want to run the world.
I guess that just leaves the question of what kind of structure or steps can exist to connect the separate entities and create synergy.
I am sure you are rather busy, so need to reply here. I am sure this has been thought of, and that sooner or later I might hear the detail. Meanwhile - thanks again.
Love
Sharif
