The Hymn of the Pearl (The Pearl of Great Price)
as sung by the Apostle Thomas in India
with Yaqin Aubert and Naima Brown
Join Naima Brown and Yaqin Aubert for a mystical exploration of this ancient story, which has been shared by Pir Vilayat and Pir Zia Inayat Khan.
It is the journey of a Prince/Princess, of the soul, who leaves their home in the East to retrieve the Pearl of Great Price and return with it.
Stories are intrinsic to the human condition. We learn stories from all spiritual traditions. We live in story. We tell ourselves stories about our own lives, about our friends, about the history of places where we live and about the nature of reality. In all stories there is deeper symbolism and meaning. Stories are gateways into a fuller awareness of Being.
We will travel and inhabit this journey together through invoking sacred sound, following the breath, contemplation and meditation.
At the completion of the weekly series we will offer a one day retreat based on the practices we explored in classes on Saturday Feb. 18th from 10 AM to 5 PM EST. This will be an opportunity to go more deeply into the mystical journey described in the Hymn of the Pearl.
All are welcome! Ashiqs, Murids, experienced and new travelers on the path …
