Prayer for the Nations

Someone asked about this prayer on Monday during the peace prayer session - although attribution to Murshid is not clear, that this may have been from Murshida Martin or even Murshida Vera Corda…nonetheless, it contains Murshid’s spirit, and asking pardon I have made two small word changes (to say nothing of the fact that i do not use tenses such as “cleareth”

Oh Thou, the Almighty Sun,

Whose light clears away all clouds

King and Queen of all humanity

God of all dieties

Lord of all angels

We pray Thee,

Dispel the mists of illusions

From the hearts of the nations

And lift their lives by Thy all sufficient power

Pour upon them Your limitless love,

Your ever-shining light

Your ever-lasting life

Your heavenly joy

And Your perfect peace

Dear Hadi,
Thank you for sending this beautiful prayer!
with love,
Noor Amina

Hadi, I have an older Gayan with almost the same prayer, called simply Prayer for Peace. The Gayan was printed in 1974 in England by the Sufi Publishing Company. There is an additional line, “Oh thou, the almighty sun, whose light cleareth away all clouds, we take refuge in thee, …” and then continues pretty much as you have it. It seems so relevant to problems in our world today.

Blessings, Tara

Ah yes, thanks, “We take refuge in Thee”
