Ascension w/ Pir Zia & Sarida Brown

This afternoon, Sunday, March 22, from 3-5 pm EDT, Pir Zia will offer a class on Ascension. Please check www.timeanddate.com for corresponding times worldwide. For this week’s class, we will study Murshid’s Gathas Morals I:7, “Training of the Ego: Constant Battle with the Ego.” Pir Zia will share teachings on this paper and asks that everyone read the paper before class if possible. PRESENCE
During this time, and always, we want to grow in presence with one another. One way to do this is for us to collectively practice being present during our class.
• Collectively hold the flow of kindness and love throughout the class.
• Focus on presence, including keeping your camera on so we can see one another and listening with no distractions (eating, mobile phone, moving about, etc.)
• Everyone will be muted upon entering the meeting. Alia will unmute people to speak.
• When ready to speak, raise your hand using the “Raise Hand” function on Zoom. (click on Participants; see your name to the right; click hand icon to raise your hand)
• Keep your video on so that we may see one another. Try not to call in from a phone if possible.
• Keep your Zoom Chat window open to see comments shared throughout the meeting.
• Be succinct and only ask to speak when there is a clear inner directive. Try to only comment and/or ask questions related to the topics in the class.
• Allow silence.
• Our classes are in English yet due to the various languages present, please speak as slowly as possible.
PIR ZIA INAYAT KHAN carries the Sufi lineage of his grandfather, Hazrat Inayat Khan. He received his Ph.D. in Religion from Duke University. His books include Saracen Chivalry: Counsels on Valor, Generosity, and the Mystical Quest and Mingled Waters: Sufism and the Mystical Unity of Religions. Pir Zia is president of The Inayati Order and founder of Suluk Academy. Now based in Richmond, Virginia, Pir Zia frequently travels.
