Dear Brothers, Sisters and Friends,
As most of you are undoubtedly aware, the Abode is now an independent organization that is no longer legally affiliated with the Inayatiyya Order. As a consequence, we want to update you on some recent developments and changes in our Center.
Earlier this year, a series of conversations were held between the Center and new Abode board members to define and come to agreement about their relationship as each entity sets its individual goals towards the future. Since the Inayatiyya Center at the Abode, which was originally registered when the Abode was founded in 1975, is representative of the Order, we were compelled to sever any associations that might cause confusion between the Center’s activities and the Abode. For that reason, after much deliberation, the Center will legally be changing its name to the Inayatiyya Hudson Valley Center. Despite this change, our relationship with the Abode remains very amicable and the door is open for future collaborations.
Following the closure of the Abode during the early months of the pandemic, the Center took advantage of the opportunity to transition its activities online. As a consequence, we are very pleased with the Center’s gradual growth and the broadening of its reach to mureeds in other parts of the country. Aside from continuing to offer weekly Message classes, the Universal Worship, events related to the Order’s other concentrations, seminars, virtual and on-location retreats, our hope is to further build and expand our community. For example, we are in the midst of exploring how we might offer other activities such as the creation of a Fellowship concentration and perhaps a Sufi Book Club.
In order to guide us better to proactively direct the Center’s new future, we request your feedback and suggestions. We are therefore very grateful if you can take a few minutes to complete a questionnaire. It is important for us to get a feel for the demographics the Center serves, know your interests, and the areas of the Inayatiyya work that most inspires you. This will help us immensely to keep the Center’s planning focused and for us to attend to your primary spiritual interests.
