“People
pursue spirituality with their brain: that is where they are
mistaken. Spirituality is attained through the heart. What do I mean
by the heart? Is it the nervous center in the midst of the breast,
the small piece of flesh that doctors call the heart? No, the
definition of the heart is that it is the depth of the mind, the mind
being the surface of the heart.” Hazrat Inayat Khan
(FYI, I couldn’t find your current regular email address, so it would be useful for me to have that, please.)
Questions, etc.:
Would it be possible for you to send me the Quotations from Shahab al-Din Suhrawardi that your read? And if possible, their source references?
In this working with the chakras from base of spine and generally yogic centers,
o Mostly, as I recall, early on with Pir Vilayat, he went up the spine and touched the chakras in the spine itself At a later date, he also talked about the centers within the body. I asked him about this, and he said that the spine was like the stem and the centers in the body were like the flowerings. And now, Pir Zia has given the Sufi lataif working, to a large extend, directly with the “flowerings.”
o How did you intend us to do the practice today - going from spine at bottom, and then touch the light in the “flowerings”? (I’m figuring you focused on the belly center for various reasons, such as what Pir Zia has given in the Sufi system, since the traditional yogic center is the 2nd chakra.) I do like this way you’ve included the belly center, and Hazrat Inayat Khan did talk about it.
With much gratitude to you and those at the Abode who made this possible.
