Emergency Relief Fund reminder

Dear fellow mureeds,

We would like to once again remind you about the Emergency Relief Fund, which is now completing its ninth year, with 43 grants awarded to date. The purpose of the Fund is to help Inayati Order mureeds in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Australia and New Zealand address urgent basic needs unmet by other sources, by providing one-time awards of up to $1,200. If you need help of this kind, or wish to act as an advocate for another mureed, please contact us at ERF@inayatiorder.org to request an application.

Contributions to the Fund may be made to the Inayati Order, noting that your donation be applied to the Emergency Relief Fund, at: 112 E. Cary St. Richmond, VA 23219.

Dearest ERF Oversight Committee,

Would you consider raising the max amount from $1,200.00 up to maybe $2,000.00?

When you started this fund, The maximum would cover rent in many cities.

Now, $2,000.00 is more realistic.

Thanks for everything,

Daoud

Greetings Daud,

Thank you for your suggestion. When the Emergency Relief Fund was created in 2011, thru the generosity of a donor, the award was set at $1,000. Last year we decided to increase the award to $1,200. Recently we spoke about increasing the award, but are concerned that the Fund itself is not growing and will not be sustained without additional contributions. So we decided to stay at $1,200 to extend the life of the Fund. We can certainly reconsider this decision and will take your perspective - covering one month’s rent - into consideration.

Warmly,

Rabia
