The Leaders Training Module in Concentration will be offered Online on July 6 and 7, Saturday and Sunday. Early registration ends on June 21 and the details are below. This is an ideal module for anyone who hasn’t attended an online course yet: Zoom is easy to use, dyads and group sharing promote personal connection, and the material includes both Suluk and Murshid’s practices, as well as Bawa’s and Pir Vilayat’s teachings.

You are warmly invited to attend the Online Inayati Order Leaders Training Module on Concentration. This course is designed to provide comprehensive teaching in a manner that will be interactive and experiential, teaching you to sharpen your ability to concentrate, and culminating in Tassawwuri Murshid.
The weekend offers foundational, sacred teachings within a retreat-like atmosphere. Teachings and practices in use in the Order to develop concentration are taught, including those of Pir-o-Murshid, Pir Vilayat, and Pir Zia. It now includes the Practice of the Symbol of the Heart, newly taught by Pir Zia, as well as the series of Concentration practices that Murshid shared with Representatives at the Summer School at Suresnes circa 1925/6. This Leaders Training Module develops one’s ability to concentrate, provides essential material to offer in classes and to murids, and awakens one to the power and clarity that concentration brings to daily life. One meets and joins with an online community of friends. There will be time for dyads to share from the heart in a safe environment as well as opportunities for subhat (group sharing from the heart). A Manual, Concentration Module for Leaders, for reference, home study, and a resource for teaching and guiding murids is provided as well as a Certificate of Completion.
Pir Zia encourages all candidates for leadership positions to attend Leadership Training Modules; they are a requirement for appointment as a Representative in the Esoteric School of the Inayati Order, and Coordinators are encouraged to undertake this course of study, as well. The course is open to Leaders and Leaders-in-training in any of the 6 Activities of the Inayati Order: the Esoteric School, Healing, Zira’at, Universal Worship, Kinship, Knights of Purity, as well as Retreat Guides and The Dances of Universal Peace. Advanced murids are welcome with the guide’s recommendation. The Trainings are also open to those in leadership or leadership training in one of the member organizations of the Federation of the Sufi Message.

Your name will be added to the course list, and you’ll be sent an email when your registration is complete. About 2 weeks prior to the Training, you’ll receive an email with information about items needed for concentration, online adab, and making your computer a sacred space. A complete class list and the Inayati Order Leaders Training in Concentration manual will be emailed to you the week before we start, Insha’Allah!
Aqdasi Newmark is a senior teacher and Retreat Guide in the Inayati Order. She is one of the developers of the Leaders Training Modules, a teacher for online Inayati classes, and mentor for Retreat Guides, Coordinators, and Representatives. She served as a mentor for Suluk classes and on the Steering Committee for the Online Suluk Class Nasim. Recently, Aqdasi collaborated with the Esoteric Training Committee to update Leadership Training, compiling a detailed Mentor’s Reference for current Inayati practices.
With her partner, Hadi Newmark, she coordinates the Inayati Order Center in Half Moon Bay, CA. Aqdasi holds a PhD in psychology and has been a lifelong psychotherapist.
