Awakening through the Planes

Based on teachings of Hazrat Inayat Khan, Pir Vilayat Inayat Khan, Pir Zia Inayat Khan and classical Sufism this series of 6 weekly classes will progressively explore the planes of consciousness. Inner degrees, levels or spheres of awakening are described in many spiritual paths. Our historical self image gives us a narrow identity of who we are. An experiential approach to understanding these planes is a means of exploring changes in one’s sense of consciousness at different levels. The goal is not to force experience into a theoretical system, but to awaken awareness of inner states of consciousness.
Practices of the breath, sacred sound, contemplation and meditation will be explored to support the ability to experience the planes.
The classes will have time for questions and will include assignments to explore between each session.

Naima Khabira Brown serves as a Vice President of the Inner/Esoteric School of the Inayatiyya. She directs various programs within the Esoteric school including training for Coordinators and Representatives. She is a founding mentor of Suluk academy, adviser to the program and is currently serving as a member of the Global Suluk committee. Naima serves as a Representative, Retreat Guide and Cheraga for the Inayatiyya, Online and in the greater Boston area.
Yaqin Aubert is the Vice President of the Inayatiyya in North America, a mystical and ecumenical fellowship rooted in the visionary legacy of Hazrat Inayat Khan. He is a Cherag/minister of the Universal Worship, which honors all the world’s faith traditions, and also offers individual and group retreats. Yaqin is a story teller and director of the Pir Vilayat Center at the Abode retreat and conference center in NY. He has been a teacher/mentor in the Suluk Academy, a school for Sufi studies.
