Friends,
My last call with Sharif was on Friday 2/16. He was feeling unwell, had tested for Covid (negative), and was resting in his reclining chair, glad for my company but clearly tired, so we talked only about 15 minutes. His condition continued on Saturday, confirmed by intermittent short text messages with others. As for the rest, here is his daughter Ramona’s account:
“My most amazing, witty, interesting, puzzling, wonderful, brilliant, and loving father, someone I feel deeply I have known for thousands of lifetimes, died peacefully while napping at home yesterday (Sunday), just while we were all coming to Tucson to celebrate his birthday on Friday.”
That day would have been Sharif’s 82nd birthday. Over recent months he had been speaking of a deepened practice of accepting whatever comes. During his travels in India, one of his thousands of Facebook admirers asked: "Do you have any idea where our human Consciousness our Soul our Spirit our Energy will be headed to after our body decays?” He replied: "Yes, it’s called eternity.” Then he added: "But don’t get overanxious. It may be a long journey between leaving our body behind and merging into the One. I say may be, because “I” haven’t done it yet.”
